Open for Business Angle

You can basically rewrite the same press release and use it for many different markets. For example, say you own a shoe store and you just opened in a new city. Your first press release can tell about you, your company, your products and most importantly your timely news. The news angle is that your store is now open for business in Orlando, Florida, for instance. That’s the main purpose of your press release. This news release will be sent to local media in the area where your shoe store opened. That’s your angle. Let’s dub that angle, “Open for Business.”

Special Shoes for Athletes

Say you have a large inventory of athletic shoes. You may want to angle this release by rewriting the facts about your shoe store and its products. But this time you’re going to emphasize your athletic shoes and how you serve all sports players. You may tell about different features of athletic shoes that specialize in court sports such as basketball and tennis. Other shoes may be designed more for joggers or power walkers and still others for aerobic exercise classes. You may write about the specifications of each shoe type and how it is fitted for the specific sport, the qualities it has for endurance, for speed, for comfort. Thisnews release will be sent not only to local media but to national media as well. It will mostlikely be picked up by sports magazines, newsletters and other health and fitness publications. Let’s dub that angle, “Special Shoes for Athletes.”

You’ve angled releases to location and special product line. Now you can do another release on special services such as mail order business, catalog orders available, out-of-state taxfree orders, full money back guarantees, customized products and free delivery or overnight delivery. These are just some of the services that customers are interested in and would make another angle for a press release. Let’s dub that angle “Special Services.”

So you see you can do many variations on the same theme in writing press releases. You can cover many markets with just a switch in angles. Think twice the next time you write a release. Think double, triple or quadruple and you may come up with many angles all at the same time that you write the first release. Make your next press release a many-angled one!
